Steps To Reproduce:
1 Open Metadata Editor. 2 TAB into the Value cell for Genre. 3 Type a word for example "Therapy" (without quotes). 4 Unlike the other value fields, the first keypress "T" only opens the cell for editing, without entering the character itself. So only "herapy" gets written.

Description Gale Andrews 2016-05-11 17:03:40 UTC
Not a regression. It may not be fixable because of the Genres list, but it gets reported as a bug from time to time, despite the workaround being detailed in the Manual. But at least we can document here if it's fixable or not.

DEVEL-FIX MADE
https://github.com/audacity/audacity/commit/c3ef4d157195b4b4b983df348af5ce2ef31a7137

This fix will also fix forward and backward delete.

Fix is believed to be very low risk. It is just copying wxWidgets code for text for use with a combo box too. The main risk would be doing 'texty things' to something that doesn't want text. Using wxWidgets function Combo() should guarantee we really do have a wxComboBox, and that doing texty things is OK.

Testing on W10 audacity-win-r6828529-2.1.3-alpha-15-jul-16

Tests ok on W10 - still to be tested on Mac and Linux

Thanks, James. I tested Metadata Editor on Win 7, including inputting in Korean and with ALT + NUMPAD codes.

Tested OK on Ubuntu 14.04 inputting with English and Czech.

Tested OK on El Capitan inputting with English and French. I cannot TAB into table cells due to bug 1450, but I faked it by single clicking the text entry for Genre.
