Mac: Audacity prompts to set temp directory unnecessarily.
Last modified: 2018-08-20 11:45:52 UTC
(observed by Peter) After installing Audacity and using a guest account with it for the first time, Audacity prompts for a location for temporary files. "Having selected "Documents" folder as a suitable location, Audacity then tells me I have to shut down Audacity and restart - which works ok and subsequent restarts don't need this step. But it begs the question: why doesn't Audacity just default the temp directory on Mac to the user's Documents folder ? "
DEVEL - FIX MADE https://github.com/audacity/audacity/commit/90738ce2adf86f958b71f5d5abe7a66787c23476 The problem was that the default temporary path had multiple components, and previously was not created recursively, so if a higher directory did not exist it was not created - and the mkdir failed. Mkdir failing then led to prompting the user for a directory.
This does not seem to be a problem now with Guest or Standard User on Mac.
