Bugzilla – Bug 1705
No drag and drop for .gro files
Last modified: 2018-08-20 11:46:11 UTC
Audacity does not currently support drag and dropping Allegro (.gro) files. The error message is: "Audacity did not recognise the type of the file '<path>/<file name>.gro'. Try installing FFmpeg. For uncompressed files, also try File>Import>Raw Data." which is misleading because neither FFmpeg or Import Raw will help.
Fixed at https://github.com/audacity/audacity/commit/a3c4c5afb5027637ddd64bd70069c05ea50d482d
(In reply to Paul L from comment #1) Tested on macOS Sierra 10.12.6 aae0c4c 04Aug17 Tests ok on Mac - I will flag it so Can't test on Windows as currently there are no nightlies.

RESOLVED FIXED. I used a .mid file renamed as .gro, and Audacity responded to it by creating a note track (with junk in it?). I regard this bug as about whether drag and drop of .gro works at all, not about whether Audacity correctly handles all aspects of the format. Hence marked as tests on Linux +. Other issues with .gro can be other bugs if necessary.
