Description Bill Wharrie 2017-11-07 12:49:03 UTC
Forum topic that alerted me to this is in the URL field.
Typing diacritics "kind of" worked in 2.1.1. By "kind of", I mean that you could type the two-keystroke combination and get the correct accented character, but did not see, after the first keystroke, the diacritic/accent to be applied.
Starting with 2.1.2, it was impossible to type a diacritic into a label.
Setting this initially at P3 so it will get a release note. As a regression it should perhaps have a higher rating? Or is this just an annoyance and thus rates P4?

Also occurs on Linux (Xubuntu 16.04).
The given workaround works on Linux.
Comment 2 Steve Daulton 2018-01-14 16:09:58 UTC
Removed "Mac" from the summary.

Possibly all platforms, but I've not tested on Windows.

Possibly also responsible for Keyman keyboards not working with current versions of Audacity (see: https://github.com/keymanapp/keyman/issues/523). Keyman keyboards are Windows only.

General problem with Label keyboard handling.

Related bug is 1804.
Wiki Issue created in case we need extended discussion, and to keep useful links for resolving it.

Comment 4 David Bailes 2018-08-07 14:16:58 UTC
An alternative workaround should be to enable the "use dialog for name of a new label" option, in the track behaviors category of Preferences.
Comment 5 David Bailes 2019-06-14 07:58:21 UTC
Removed workaround 3, which was the same as workaround 1. :)
