Click Mute, the track mutes and the Solo remains unactivated A3. Click Mute again, the track unmutes but Solo then become activated. A4. Import a second track, now it's muted by default (since Solo was (unnecessarily) on on the first track). A5. You can get it back, unmuted, by clicking Solo on the first track.

Description Peter Sampson 2017-12-11 11:24:55 UTC
With a single track a second use of the Mute button (activate then deactivate) unnecessarily causes the Solo button to become depressed/activated.

Not only is this "Solo" state unnecessary - more importantly it also causes subsequently imported tracks to be show as muted due to the unnecessary solo activation in the first track.
Comment 1 Peter Sampson 2017-12-11 11:26:06 UTC
It only occurs with the (default) Simple setting for the Solo button
Comment 3 Peter Sampson 2017-12-18 08:18:11 UTC
(In reply to James Crook from comment #2)
Tested on macOS 10.13.2 High Sierra with audacity-macos-nightly-2.2.2-63de7f0.dmg - 25.95 MB | version: 2.2.2--18Dec17

The original steps test OK on Mac

BUT

If the user however deliberately Solos track 1 and then imports a second track - then:
1) the second imported track is grayed out as muted and does not Play
2) BUT the Mute button is not down on the imported muted track as is should be to indicate the track state.

So marked as REOPENED

*** STEPS UPDATED ***

Updated for residual. Residual demoted to P5.
Comment 5 Peter Sampson 2018-01-26 08:46:36 UTC
(In reply to James Crook from comment #4)
Same residual errant behavior exists on W10 - tested with 2.2.2 alpha JC0008 25Jan18
Comment 6 Peter Sampson 2019-05-04 12:43:28 UTC
Testing with 2.3.2 RC001 on W10 and macOS 10.14.4 the residual behavior now appears to be fixed on both platforms.
Comment 7 Peter Sampson 2019-05-05 10:16:08 UTC
This bug looks suspiciously like new bug #2109 - which fails for me on Mac an W10

Use Case B for this bug - which I closed off yesterday as I could not then reproduce it - testing today on Mac and W10 with 2.3.2 RC001 I can reproduce 1799 and this bug's steps - so I have re-opened this
Comment 8 James Crook 2019-07-28 17:19:05 UTC
The residual B0-B4 is bug 2109, so closing this bug as A0-A5 are fixed.
