Description Peter Sampson 2019-03-29 14:15:08 UTC
When using the Gain dialog in the Mixer board the vertical height of the dialog is ridiculously over-long with lots of empty, useless space. This can lead to the bottom of the dialog being off-screen.

In contrast the TCP Gail control is sensibly sized

Images to be added for both the above

Also note that the Mixer Board Pan control is also sensibly sized

Note that this appears to have been the case ever since Mixer Board was introduced in the 1.3.x Beta series - so is not a regression
Comment 4 Steve Daulton 2019-03-29 15:06:20 UTC
"3) click on the control on the (vertical) gain slider"

Should this be "Double click"?

I'm unsure because on Linux, a single click displays a black horizontal line.

A double click pops up an overly tall dialog with the Gain as a number, then a big space (vertically), then a horizontal slider that corresponds with the track gain slider (why?), and then "Cancel" and "OK" buttons.

>Should this be "Double click"?

Yes, good catch - I've updated the Steps...
Comment 6 Steve Daulton 2019-03-29 15:34:32 UTC
The height of the dialog in step 4 appears to be related to the height of the Mixer Board window. The taller the Mixer Board, the taller the dialog.

Yes. Comment #6 is the root of the problem.

Tested with build 3760db on MacOS 10.13.6 and the gain control now is reasonably sized.

Testing on W10 with audacity-2.3.2-alpha-205-09dab612fed1110905b7ae6d7454b2e4d7ea47b9

Tests fine on W10 - the Mixer Board gain dialog is now normal size (in line withe the TCP Gain dialog and the Pan dialogs) and does not vary with the height of the Mixer Board window.
Comment 10 Steve Daulton 2019-04-05 07:30:43 UTC
Works for me on Linux, so closing as fixed.
