Linux: High-dpi displays are not supported
Last modified: 2020-03-17 07:42:42 UTC
On a High-dpi display, fonts are typically scaled larger by the Desktop settings so that they are big enough to read. In a number of places, notably the Device Toolbar, the display area provided by Audacity is too small to accommodate the text, making it unreadable. Other high-dpi issues include: * Entire application is very small * "LR" labels in the meters are unreadable * Several windows open too small to display their full contents * Time control widgets are tiny and so difficult to read or use * Audacity's cursors / mouse pointers are tiny and may be difficult to see Full support for high-dpi displays will also require that icons and cursors can be scaled larger with higher definition.

(In reply to Steve Daulton from comment #0) As can be seen from the attached screenshots (comments #1 and #2) it can be seen that the Ubuntu repository version of Audacity 2.2.1 looks considerably better than our version of Audacity 2.4.0. On my 1920 x 1040 display, the multiple choice widgets in the Device Toolbar are noticeably taller in the Ubuntu version and so accommodates the size of the text.
