Steps To Reproduce:
This is an enhancement request for the unnecessary feature of making completion beeps (which should be short) long. 1 Set "Beep on completion..." to "checked" in Interface Preferences 2 Exit Audacity and open audacity.cfg 3 Add a line BeepAfterDuration=1 or some small value 4 Add a line for BeepFileName" for example BeepFileName=C:\\Ten_second.wav 5 Save .cfg, restart Audacity, generate a 30s tone and apply an effect. The file will start to play as the effect progress bar nears the end, then removal of progress bar and drawing of waveform waits for the file to stop playing

Description Gale Andrews 2010-10-11 16:43:34 UTC
This isn't much of an issue with the current short beep, but if/when a preference is given to choose a file to play, this will become noticeable. Ed Musgrove is interested in possibly creating a separate thread for the file playback at some stage if this is deemed safe (there may be a slight worry it isn't safe on Mac).

*** STEPS UPDATED ***
Updated to clarify that this is an enhancement request.
This will probably be closed as NOT-A-BUG in due course.
