Steps To Reproduce:
Observe in High Contrast Theme the meter numbers being almost the same color as the indicator bars are very hard to read when covered by the bar.
Release Note:
In High Contrast Theme, the meter numbers are difficult to see when active due to the very low contrast against the green meter bar.
First Git SHA:
Group: ---
Workaround:
Move the meters out of the dock and resize to double height so that the numbers appear below the meter bar. The meters may be returned to the dock at double height.

Description Cliff Scott 2020-06-15 23:37:47 UTC
The fix for bug 2473 changed the meter numbers background from opaque to transparent which causes the numbers covered by the indicator bars during play/record to be very difficult to read. Those not covered are fine. This is a regression on Audacity version 2.4.1.
Comment 1 Steve Daulton 2020-06-22 06:53:33 UTC
I'm increasing the priority to P3 as this is a serious regression for anyone that requires a high contrast theme.
Comment 2 Leland Lucius 2021-02-12 02:16:20 UTC
The "fix" for https://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2473 may also correct this one.

Testing on W10 with Audacity 3.0.0 0f58e88

This now looks much better - easily legible (for me at least)
Comment 4 Peter Sampson 2021-02-12 09:56:17 UTC
Testing on macOS 11.2.1 Big Sur with Audacity 3.0.0 0f58e88

This now looks much better on Mac too - easily legible (for me at least)
Comment 5 Steve Daulton 2021-02-12 11:27:25 UTC
The contrast when recording / playing is not particularly "high contrast", but I think it is sufficient to close this bug.
Comment 6 Cliff Scott 2021-02-12 13:01:12 UTC
MacOS, build 0f58e8, much improved with Leland's fix. Does not need the work around any more, IMO.
