Description Steve Daulton 2011-12-23 08:19:08 UTC
Numbering on timeline at full zoom level is incorrect on long tracks.
Occurs in all versions since 1.3.8.
Tested on Windows and Linux.

DEVEL - FIX MADE
https://github.com/audacity/audacity/commit/e98f08a2dec3d5cc088dc55b17bc261e3ded8654

Now, you may justifiably argue there are other issues with the timeline. However, the duplication of numbers, and displaying '39 mins and 60 seconds' which is the bug whose fix caused the duplicate numbers are now fixed.

I regard it as sufficiently better that we should resolve it, and look at for example a better algorithm for spacing the timeline labels as a future enhancement.

Tested by the fixer on windows and linux (but that doesn't count towards closing it).

Testing on macOS Sierra 10.12.6 db97fea 15Aug

Teested with the one-hour silence as per the steps and the Timeline numbering is ok.

Also tested with importing a four-hour WAV file - numbering of Timeline ok at max zoom at the end, the beginning and the middle.

RESOLVED FIXED
Per Peter's testing in comment 2.
It's RepeatableAll, and is one of those cases that only needs test on one platform.

Mid-air collision (ouch).
Was just posting that it works for me on Linux.
