Steps To Reproduce:
1 Initialize Audacity 2 Transport > Timer Record 3 If you try to type in the Start Date or End Date picker by placing the cursor, or selecting and overtyping, the edit is rejected 4 But you can modify the text content of the pickers if you change the Start Date to a date in the future using the Calendar. For example change Start Date to tomorrow using the Calendar, then change the start date back to today by typing in the Start Date picker. 5 This does not change the End Date or Duration. The Start Date is really still tomorrow as evidenced by the start time timer not running. If you start Timer Record it will wait to start recording tomorrow. 6 If you cancel the waiting to start dialogue and reopen Timer Record, the controls are fortunately reset to 1 hour recording, starting today. Now repeat step 4 but after changing Start Date back to tomorrow in the Date Picker, click in End Date date picker, or any other control e.g Duration. End Date now resets to today, start time timer resumes and you are back to recording 1 hour starting now. 7 Changing End Date with the calendar does not produce the bug.

Quite likely but we should research first before deciding.

The same is true on Windows too.

The date pickers are not designed to be editable - you are supposed to use the up/down triangles at the right of the date picker box to change the dates up or down - with the day, moth and year separately changeable.

I do not recall any requests abot this on the Forum for many a long year.
