Bugzilla – Bug 580
Nyquist Workbench does not remember Font selection
Last modified: 2019-05-30 09:36:25 UTC
Monospace fonts are generally preferred for writing code, but Nyquist Workbench fails to maintain the selected font and it falls back to the default (Sans) font when new lines are added to the end or beginning of the document. Also, the font selection is not saved on closing Audacity.
Are we still bothering with Nyquist Workbench? It says in the Manual: >Nyquist Workbench is not essential for writing Nyquist plug-ins for Audacity >as most of the functionality is now available in the Nyquist Prompt. So are we still bothered by this "bug" which is really an ENH ? It's been open for 7 years - are we ever realistically going to fix it ? Or should we just close it as WONTFIX or even NOTABUG ?
(In reply to Peter Sampson from comment #1) While the Nyquist Workbench exists, this is a valid bug. As we don't ship Nyquist Workbench, I think it's reasonable for all bugs relating to it to have low "P" ratings, but anyone building the Workbench from source will experience this bug, so it should be logged. If the Workbench was clearly marked as "no longer supported", then I think we could close Workbench bugs as "Won't Fix".
This isn't an "enhancement", it's a "bug". The Nyquist Workbench has a built-in feature for selecting the font. The feature sometimes fails - that's a bug.
Nyquist Workbench has been declared obsolete for Audacity 2.3.3 onwards. there is a Proposal for a replacement: https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Proposal_Nyquist_IDE >Proposal Nyquist IDE
