So does this want fixing for Linux and Mac only, or is it a "WON'T FIX"?

TITLE changed from "About box not modal" to "About box not modeless". 

I've only ever seen this one person ask for this. James added this to Release Checklist as a result of that one-off request then it got transferred here.

Some apps on Linux like GIMP have a modeless About dialog (which I assume is the request despite the original bug title). Firefox and VLC on Ubuntu and Ubuntu's own apps have a modal About dialogue. 

Apple apps on Mac have modeless About dialogues and Firefox and VLC follow that style. So I think it's a Mac only request, and if we took the majority view and did the same for all platforms, we would leave About modal as now.

I think we try to accommodate platform individualities where possible so I would mildly support a modeless About dialog as a Mac only enhancement. Do you agree James?

Yes.  I think this still merits being a P4 and fixing 'for Mac'.  Happy for another opinion to prevail.  It's not life or death stuff.

OK. Importance changed to "Enhancement" and platform to Mac.

Looks to work ok on Mac El Capitan d6187f6 21Jun16

But fixing this may have caused Bug #1408 on Windows
