Steps To Reproduce:
1) In Interface Preferences, set "Retain labels if selection snaps to label edge" 2) Add a label track, click in it and type something to create a point label 3) Select one second to the immediate left of the label snapping to the label 4) Delete or Cut 5) Label is extended to a range label of duration one second that has the same region that was deleted or cut
Release Note:
GROUP: Label Tracks * '''If "Retain labels if selection snaps to label edge" is enabled''' in Interface Preferences, deleting or cutting a region to left of a label extends the label by the length of the selection that was removed (instead of moving the label back as intended). '''Workaround:''' For point labels that were extended to a range label, click in the label, right-click and "Delete Label", LEFT arrow then retype the label name.

Description Peter Sampson 2014-11-14 05:46:05 UTC
There is a bug when deleting audio adjacent to a label. Only occurs when the audio is to the left of a label. Occurs with both point and range labels.

The label is extended by the amount of audio that is deleted.
1) A point label is extended to a range label with the length of the deleted audio.
2) A region label is extended by the length of the deleted audio.

Steve confirms that this occurs on Linux too
Comment 1 Peter Sampson 2014-11-14 05:47:45 UTC
For a point label this can be a serious problem, as it is nigh on impossible to turn a region label back into a point one, (and also nigh on impossible to see whether a label is a very short range label or a point label). And that can trash a user's Export Multiple with hard to diagnose results.

Regression on 2.0.6. Occurs on Mac too. Doesn't depend on there being an audio track.

Ed has a patch to display point and region labels in the Label Track Info if we want that (+1). Meantime, clicking in the label will display two arrows rather than one in the Timeline if it is a region label.

Thanks, Leland. Seems good - problem fixed and pre-existing behaviour still works AFAICT.
