Steps To Reproduce:
1 Download DISTRHO LV2 from http://distrho.sourceforge.net/plugins . 2 3Band effects now work - see Comment #4 3 No crash now from 3Band effects - see Comment #4 4 Harrison XT-EQ (mono and stereo) and XT-MC Compressor (mono and stereo) fail to instantiate for Gale on Windows. Gale got official standalone plugins. Leland got his from the Mixbus install, copying them out of the Mixbus directory into the Common Files directory then put all of the other Mixbus DLLs into the Audacity directory. 5 Harrison XT-EQ (mono and stereo) always cause a hang on El Capitan and Mavericks for Gale (Apple Hang report attached). Harrison XT-MC Compressor "sometimes" hangs. 6 Harrison XT-EQ Equalizer (stereo) crashes on Ubuntu 64-bit as soon as pressing "Apply". Leland observed "By default, we use a pretty large blocksize when doing an apply. The default is 524288 samples. The EQ fella doesn't seem to like any blocksizes above 8197. I'll see if I can find a way to "ask" the plugin for the acceptable blocksize."

I've been working with the author on the Mini Series plugins. He provided an updated build that does work, but I need to ping him to see when it will be published.

Testing on W10 with audacity-2.3.3-alpha-271-d84ab5948d544eec6ba6a648d76d31ef9d5edc88

the 32-bit distrho 3Band and PingPong LV2 effects
a) download ok
b) can be enabled with the plug-in manager
c) work

Steps 2-3 are thus RESOLVED

2 The 3Band* effects appear in the Effect menu on Windows 7 but fail to load when applying the effect. They do not appear in the Effect Menu on Win 8.1.

3 In Audacity 2.1.1 and 2.1.2-alpha, opening 3Band Splitter crashes on Windows 7 (debug XML attached).

Since the Distrho Mini-Series package of effects now work I have

a) changed the title of this bug to reflect the outstanding issues which are only about Harrison XT-EQ Equalizer

b) made it all platforms as the Steps clearly indicate

c) demoted it to P5

I tried downloading the Harrison XT-EQ Equalizer plug-in - but though it is free it seems to require the purchase of Harrison Mixbus at $79 to acquire it - which I will not be doing

But it is really not our issue to ensure that third-party plug-ins work on Audacity
Comment 6 Peter Sampson 2019-06-18 07:25:58 UTC
The fact it is a non-free plug-in is the clincher for closing this "bug"
